Mason Greenwood is an English winger who used to play for Manchester United but has since been suspended from all activities by the Mancunian club. In 2022, he was charged with sexual assault and was arrested by the Greater Manchester Police.
What Did Mason Greenwood Do?
Mason Greenwood was arrested in January 2022 after his girlfriend Harriet Robson, who is a British model and social media influencer, filed charges of sexual abuse against the English winger. He went to prison soon after but has since been released on bail. However, the 21-year-old remains suspended from participating in Man United’s squad and training activities.
Greenwood has registered 35 goals and 12 assists in 129 matches for the Red Devils across all competitions. However, he is yet to taste success with the Mancunian club at the highest level.
Why Was Mason Greenwood Suspended?
Greenwood was suspended after he was charged with sexual assault by the Greater Manchester Police in 2022. Man United was quick to suspend him and is yet to lift his suspension.
Recently, the Crown Prosecution Service dropped all charges against Greenwood. Since them, Man United released an official statement that read,
“Manchester United notes the decision of the Crown Prosecution Service that all charges against Mason Greenwood have been dropped.
“The club will now conduct its own process before determining next steps. We will not make any further comment until that process is complete.”
Can He Play For Manchester United Again?
It’s unclear when Mason Greenwood will play for Man United again as he remains suspended from attending squad and training activities. The Mancunian club is now conducting their own investigation but has not given a timescale on their verdict which has put the youngster’s long-term future at Old Trafford in doubt. His current contract with Man United will expire in the summer of 2025.
