Following their thrilling Bundesliga title win, Bayern Munich made the surprising decision to dismiss their CEO and club legend, Oliver Kahn, merely an hour after edging out Borussia Dortmund.

Oliver Kahn On His Dismissal From Bayern Munich
Kahn has since disclosed that he was “prohibited” from attending the match against Koln on Saturday, where Bayern secured their remarkable 11th consecutive league championship.
Entering the final day, Bayern required a victory while hoping for their rivals to stumble. For the majority of the afternoon, the situation favoured Bayern, as Thomas Tuchel‘s team took an early lead. At the same time, Dortmund fell behind 2-0 to Mainz within the first 24 minutes, including a missed penalty by Sebastian Haller.
However, Koln managed to equalize against Bayern with a late penalty, putting the title momentarily back in Dortmund’s hands. It was only in the 89th minute that Jamal Musiala’s goal secured the victory for Bayern Munich. And despite Dortmund equalising in the 96th minute, that Musiala goal proved enough for the Bavarian giants to win the Bundesliga on goal difference.
Why Did Bayern Munich Dismiss, Oliver Kahn?
However, even with the triumph, Bayern did not hesitate to take action and dismissed both Kahn and fellow board member Hasan Salihamidžić. This decision comes after a season filled with ups and downs, including the unexpected and contentious choice to terminate manager Julian Nagelsmann’s contract in March.
The club expressed the difficulty of parting ways with Oliver Kahn in an official statement. Still, it highlighted the need for a fresh appointment at the helm of the executive board due to the club’s overall progress and circumstances.
“We would like to thank Oliver Kahn for his commitment, his ideas and for everything we have achieved together. He will always remain a great figure at FC Bayern. We wish him all the best for his future.”
