In a recent tweet, journalist Mohamed Toubache mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur are showing interest in Olympique Marseille talent Matteo Guendouzi. It has been stated that Spurs are hoping to lure the French midfielder to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in this off-season.

Guendouzi’s Impressive Form In French Football This Season

The 24-year-old has been a good performer for Marseille this season as he has put in a run of impressive displays for them at the centre of the park. Guendouzi has participated in 41 matches for the French club during this campaign, scoring five goals and picking up five assists across various competitions.

The French sensation has been a decent performer at the centre of the park based on his average of 1.2 tackles, 0.7 interceptions, 0.8 shots and 0.6 key passes per game in the Ligue 1. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball from midfield after completing 88.3% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).

Guendouzi’s current deal at Marseille is set to run out in the summer of 2025. Therefore, Spurs will have to make a big offer if they want to get him on board later this year.

Is Guendouzi A Decent Option For Tottenham Hotspur?

Guendouzi is a solid tackler of the ball and can make some timely interceptions for his team when he is playing with confidence on the pitch. He doesn’t mind clearing the danger when needed and is a good passer of the ball. The French sensation can strike the ball with power and accuracy from long range and is full of energy and running at the centre of the park.

We can expect Guendouzi to add more energy and dynamism to Tottenham‘s midfield. He might even help the North London club challenge for a trophy or two over the next few years.

At 24, Guendouzi’s best years are ahead of him which makes him a good option for Spurs to pursue during this summer transfer period. However, only time will tell whether the Frenchman has grown enough to cope with the physical nature and high intensity of Premier League football if the North London outfit manage to snap him up in this off-season.
