In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Real Madrid have identified Napoli star Victor Osimhen as a target. It has been claimed that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to sign the Nigerian centre-forward if they fail to land Manchester City’s Erling Haaland or Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe in the future.
Osimhen’s Excellent Goal-Scoring Record In Serie A
Osimhen is having the best season of his playing career at Naples this season and has been responsible for putting in several match-winning displays as the focal point of Luciano Spaletti’s attack. The 24-year-old has made 36 appearances for the Italian club during this campaign, scoring 28 goals and picking five assists in multiple competitions.
The Nigeria international has led the line well for the Italian outfit as he is averaging 4.2 shots, 1.0 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per game in Serie A football. However, he has to figure out a way to improve his link-up play on the attacking third of the pitch based on his pass completion rate of 69.9% in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
Osimhen’s current deal at Napoli will run out in the summer of 2025. Thus, it won’t be easy for Los Blancos to recruit him on the cheap in this off-season.
What Will Osimhen Bring To Real Madrid?
Osimhen can strike the ball with venom and accuracy from all ranges. He has proven his worth as a prolific centre-forward at Napoli this season and has successfully helped them win the Serie A title.
The Nigerian talent has got the vision to engineer some promising chances in the final third and is usually quite clever with his movements in and around the opponent’s penalty box.
At the moment, Osimhen is playing at a very high level and is well-equipped to make an instant impact at Real Madrid if Carlo Ancelotti can devise a way to get him on board this summer.
We can expect Osimhen to bring plenty of goals to Ancelotti’s attack at the Madrid club. He might even serve as an ideal successor to Karim Benzema at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the long run. Therefore, Los Blancos should think about trying everything they can to acquire the services of the Nigerian attacker during the summer transfer period.
