In a recent report, Calciomercato stated that Manchester United have set their sights on AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori. It is understood that the Red Devils are eyeing a move to secure the services of the English sensation this summer.

Tomori’s Impressive Form In Italian Football This Season

Tomori is experiencing a solid campaign at San Siro as he has put in a series of impressive performances at the centre of AC Milan’s backline. The English sensation has scored one goal in 38 appearances for the Milan outfit this season on all fronts.

The 25-year-old has given a good account of himself on the defensive end of the field based on his average of 2.3 tackles, 0.9 interceptions and 2.1 clearances per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even been tidy with his ball distribution after making 87.8% of his attempted passes in the top tier of Italian football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the San Siro is set to run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, it won’t be easy for the Red Devils to land Tomori in this off-season.

Is Tomori A Good Choice For Manchester United?

Tomori is a good tackler of the ball and can make a few timely interceptions for his side inside his half. He is usually quick to spot the danger and doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when required.

The English sensation can also use his strong 1.85m frame to dominate the opposition in the air. He is a good passer of the ball as well and has got plenty of experience in Premier League football under his belt.

Thus, it makes sense for Man United boss Erik ten Hag to move in for Tomori during this summer transfer period. He will enhance the quality of the Mancunian club’s defensive department considerably and could also serve as an upgrade over Harry Maguire, who has struggled to prove his worth at Old Trafford thus far. At 25, the English talent has his best years ahead of him. He also helped AC Milan win the 2021-22 Serie A campaign.

All in all, Tomori would be a decent choice for the Red Devils to consider when the transfer window commences later this year.
