In a recent print edition, Corriere dello Sport stated that Manchester United could entice Napoli star Kim Min-jae with European football this summer. It is understood that the Red Devils can use the ‘magical atmosphere at Old Trafford’ in the UEFA Champions League to lure the South Korea international to Manchester in this off-season.
Min-jae’s Solid Campaign At The Stadio Diego Armando Maradona
Min-jae is having a fine campaign at the Naples club after he produced a series of impressive performances at the heart of their defence. The 26-year-old has participated in 44 matches for the Italian club this season, netting two goals and picking up two assists in the process across all fronts.
The South Korean sensation has given a good account of himself on the defensive end of the pitch by averaging 1.6 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 3.6 clearances per 90 minutes in Serie A football.
He has even been tidy when distributing possession from inside his half after making 91% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Napoli will run out in 2025. However, the player has his heart set on a move away from Italy which could open the door for the Red Devils to snap him up this summer.
Is Min-jae A Good Option For Manchester United Boss Erik Ten Hag?
Min-jae can time his tackles well to secure the ball back for his team on the defensive third of the pitch. He usually clears the danger when the opposition are looking to attack and can use his powerful 1.90m frame to win a few aerial duels for his side.
The South Korean talent is a tidy passer of the ball as well. Hence, he would be a great fit for Erik ten Hag‘s brand of football at Old Trafford.
Min-jae is good enough to bring more bite and steel to Man United‘s backline. He will no doubt increase competition for places within ten Hag’s squad.
At 26, Min-jae will enter his prime soon and is well-equipped to make an instant impact at the Mancunian club if he can make a smooth transition to life in England.
