Newcastle United will take on Leeds United as they travel to Elland Road on Saturday for their UCL qualification race. The Magpies come into the match on the back of a disappointing 2-0 defeat against Arsenal, so they’ll have to perform better in this upcoming encounter.
Eddie Howe should probably opt for a 4-3-3 formation and is expected to make a single change to the starting XI for this contest. Jacob Murphy should make way for Miguel Almiron as he drops to the bench.
4-3-3 Newcastle United Predicted XI Vs Leeds United
Defence
Nick Pope will continue to function in goal for the Magpies, looking to earn a clean sheet this weekend. Sven Botman will form a defensive partnership with Fabian Schar at the heart of Newcastle’s backline as they focus on stopping the Whites from causing too many problems during the game.
Kieran Trippier will operate as the right-back, while Dan Burn hopes to perform on the other side as the left-back. Both the Newcastle full-backs will be responsible for containing the opposition wingers and stopping them from creating chances from the wide areas.
Matt Targett will offer cover for the defensive positions as he takes a spot on the bench.
Midfield
Joelinton, Bruno Guimaraes and Joe Willock will operate in the central areas as they try to dominate possession at the centre of the park and engineer some decent chances in the final third.
Attack
Alexander Isak will fill in as the left-sided wide player, while Miguel Almiron replaces Jacob Murhpy on the right flank. Both of them would have to find a way to create more opportunities in front of the goal if the Magpies are to win this contest.
Callum Wilson will lead the Tyneside club’s charge on the field’s attacking end. The Swedish striker will fancy his chances of finding the back of the net and getting his name on the scoresheet again.
Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon will have to be content with a spot on the bench as they wait for an opportunity to shine in the game’s final quarter if Newcastle needs a goal by then.
