Chelsea will take on Manchester United as they travel to Old Trafford this Thursday night, hoping to secure all three points from this contest. The Blues, a side that sits in the middle of the table, suffered a 1-0 defeat to the newly crowned champions, Manchester City. Meanwhile, after the 1-0 win over Bournemouth last weekend, the Red Devils are on the verge of guaranteeing a top-four finish.
Frank Lampard will probably opt for a 4-3-3 formation and will be forced to change the starting XI for this contest. N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic have been ruled out of the game for this weekend, so Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Conor Gallagher would have to up their game.
3-4-3 Chelsea Predicted XI Vs Manchester United
Defence
Despite shipping in one goal last weekend, Kepa Arrizabalaga will function in between the sticks for the Blues. Thiago Silva will form a three-man backline with Wesley Fofana and Trevoh Chalobah at the heart of Chelsea’s backline as they try to keep things solid at the back during the 90 minutes.
Midfield
Enzo Fernandez and Ruben Loftus Cheek will function as the holding midfielders as they try to dominate the ball and engineer enough chances for the Blues to come out on top in this midweek contest.
Cesar Azpilicueta will operate as the right-sided wide player, while Lewis Hall hopes to catch the eye on the opposite flank. Both of them would be eager to make a difference for the West London club out on the flanks.
N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic remain sidelined due to injuries, so Lampard will have to make do without midfield replacements on the bench.
Attack
Gallagher will operate on the left wing, while Raheem Sterling hopes to put his pace to good use on the right.
Kai Havertz will lead the line for the West London club on the attacking end of the field. The German forward has to figure out a way to threaten City’s goal if Chelsea want to secure a win at Old Trafford.
Joao Felix will be named on the bench as he waits for his opportunity to impress in the latter stages of the game if the London club are in need of a goal by then.
