Despite facing a challenging season, Chelsea find themselves in a position where they must rally and regain their form. Manchester City have the opportunity to clinch the Premier League title on Sunday, and Chelsea will aim to impede their quest by securing a victory, thereby postponing City’s chance to claim the crown.
Frank Lampard will probably opt for a 4-3-3 formation and will be forced to change the starting XI for this contest. N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic have been ruled out of the game for this weekend, so Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Conor Gallagher would have to up their game.
4-3-3 Chelsea Predicted XI Vs Manchester City
Defence
After shipping in two goals in the 2-2 stalemate against Nottingham Forest last weekend, Kepa Arrizabalaga will function in goal for the Blues. Thiago Silva will continue to play alongside Wesley Fofana at the heart of Chelsea’s backline as they try to keep things solid at the back during the 90 minutes.
Trevoh Chalobah will operate as the right-back, while Lewis Hall hopes to catch the eye as the left-back. Both of them would be eager to make a difference for the Blues out on the flanks.
Benoit Badiashille has suffered a knock and needs further assessment to know the severity of his situation. However, Cesar Azpilicueta remains available and will offer cover for the defensive positions from the bench.
Midfield
Conor Gallagher, Enzo Fernandez and Ruben Loftus Cheek will make up Chelsea’s midfield as they try to dominate the ball and engineer enough chances for the Blues to come out on top this weekend.
N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic remain sidelined due to injuries, so Lampard will have to make do without midfield replacements on the bench.
Attack
Raheem Sterling will continue as the left-sided wide player, while Nono Madueke hopes to put his pace to good use on the right.
Joao Felix will lead the line for the West London club on the attacking end of the field. The Portuguese forward has to figure out a way to threaten City’s goal if Chelsea want to secure a win at the Etihad Stadium this weekend.
Kai Havertz will be named on the bench as he waits for his opportunity to impress in the latter stages of the game if the London club are in need of a goal by then.
