Arsenal will take on Southampton as they welcome them to the Emirates Stadium on Friday night, looking to grab all three points from this contest. The Gunners were held to a 2-2 draw at the hands of West Ham United in their last league outing, so they will be looking to perform better in this next Premier League match-up.
Mikel Arteta will probably opt for a 4-3-3 formation and is expected to keep the changes to a minimum for this contest. Gabriel Jesus will continue to lead the charge up front while Aaron Ramsdale continues to operate in goal.
4-2-3-1 Arsenal Predicted XI Vs Southampton
Aaron Ramsdale will continue to feature between the sticks for the Gunners after conceding two goals in his last league appearance against the Hammers. Rob Holding will again function alongside Gabriel at the heart of Arsenal’s backline as they look to keep the opposition attackers at bay during the game.
Ben White will play in the right-back position, while Kieran Tierney hopes to impress on the other side as the left-back. Both must make forward runs out on the wide areas to create enough chances but remain compact defensively.
William Salliba remains sidelined due to injury, while Oleksandr Zinchenko is unlikely to recover in time for this contest; hence Arteta will remain short on defensive options at the bench.
Midfield
Martin Odegaard, Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey will anchor Arsenal’s midfield to establish superiority over the opposition in the middle of the park.
Odegaard will act as the primary playmaker for Arsenal in the opponent’s half as he looks to go deep into the final third.
Jorginho and Fabio Vieira will have to settle for a spot on the bench as they wait for their chance to shine in the second half if Arteta decides to call upon his services.
Attack
Gabriel Martinelli will continue at the left flank while Bukayo Saka looks to weave his magic from the opposite side.
As mentioned earlier, Gabriel Jesus is expected to lead the charge against the opposition as he fancies his chances of finding the back of the net being the focal point of Arsenal’s attack.
Leandro Trossard will take a spot on the bench to provide cover for the attacking positions.
