In a recent report, Tuttomercatoweb claimed that Arsenal are eyeing a move for Real Madrid talent Marco Asensio. It has been mentioned that the Gunners are hoping to secure the services of the Spanish playmaker when he becomes a free agent at the end of this campaign.

Asensio’s Impressive Numbers In Spanish Football

Asensio has experienced a season of mixed emotions at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium thus far as he has often come off the bench to put in a run of impressive displays on the right side of Los Blancos’ attack. The 27-year-old has found the back of the net on seven occasions and earned five assists in 34 appearances for the Madrid giants during this campaign across all fronts.

The gifted playmaker has seen most of his appearances come as a substitute which explains why he is only averaging 1.5 shots, 1.0 key passes and 0.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He was even tidy with his ball distribution after completing 89.4% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract with Real Madrid will run out in the summer. Thus, it makes a lot of sense for the Gunners to offer him a chance to shine in the Premier League.

What Will Asensio Bring To Real Madrid?

Asensio remains a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few promising runs with the ball in and around the opponent’s penalty box. He is a technically gifted footballer who has got the vision to engineer some inviting chances for his teammates on the attacking end of the pitch.

The Spain international can strike the ball with venom and accuracy from long range. However, only time will tell whether Asensio can make a smooth transition to life in Premier League football.

The Spaniard is good enough to bring more goals and creativity to Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta‘s attack. He could even help the Gunners compete for even more major trophies over the next few seasons. Thus, the North London club should try everything they can to sign Asensio when he becomes a free agent later this year.
