Recently, Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds has been a man on a mission, not only for his incredible contributions in any of the blockbuster movies he has starred in but also for purchasing a lower-tier Welsh outfit Wrexham.
Why Did Ryan Reynolds Buy Wrexham?
In 2020, Reynolds and his fellow actor friend, Rob McElhenney decided to buy Wrexham with the aim of leading them from the English fifth division (National League) to the upper echelons of the pyramid system.
In a recent show on FX, Reynolds shed some light on his adventure from starring as a Hollywood actor to buying and managing a football club in Welsh, United Kingdom. The FX show goes by the name, ‘Welcome to Wrexham’.
What Is The Story Behind This Inspiring Tale?
In the FX documentary, Reynolds revealed the story behind his inspiring tale of purchasing Wrexham and his ambitions of Premier League football someday. The Hollywood actor said (via AS),
“If everything falls into place, hopefully we will be in the Premier League within 25 years.
“We love sports. We love telling stories through sport. You have to manage it like a business, but in most cases a business is where you have to make a profit.
“The main area of life where I got the most support from my father was when he was good at sports. So I played sports way past the point where I was really motivated to do it just to get their buy-in. My father has been dead for years, but these things don’t go away.
“I’m sure he would have thought that all this was crazy.
“It is about putting Wrexham on the world stage.
“It’s a story of the underdog and that’s a story I love,”
