West Ham United entertained Southampton at the London Stadium earlier today as they focused on securing a positive result at home in the Premier League. The Hammers made a decent start to the game and got their noses ahead in the 25th minute via Nayef Aguerd’s effort. The East London club sat on their lead well and went into the half-time break 1-0 up on the scoreline.

David Moyes’ men managed the game well in the second half and earned a narrow 1-0 win in front of their home fans.

Let’s take a look at how each West Ham United player fared during the match against the Saints.

GK: Lukasz Fabianski – 7/10

The Polish keeper made a few solid saves at the back and earned a well-deserved clean sheet at home.

RB: Thilo Kehrer – 7.5/10

The German sensation kept things solid at the back and made two good chances in the final third.

CB: Kurt Zouma – 7/10

He didn’t do much wrong when defending inside his half and will be quite happy with the clean sheet today.

CB: Nayef Aguerd – 7.5/10

Aguerd was a dominant presence on the defensive end of the field and managed to score the only goal of the game in the 25th minute.

CM: Tomas Soucek – 6.5/10

Soucek got stuck in with some solid tackles and made one driving run with the ball from midfield.

CM: Declan Rice – 7.5/10

The England international anchored the midfield with conviction but offered very little going forward.

CM: Lucas Paqueta – 8/10

The Brazilian talent made a lot of solid tackles to make life difficult for the opposition at the centre of the park.

RW: Jarrod Bowen – 7/10

He came back to defend when required and was unfortunate to hit the crossbar.

ST: Danny Ings – 6.5/10

Ings made two encouraging runs with the ball but failed to threaten the opposition goal.

LW: Said Benrahma – 7/10

He was a constant menace in the final third but there was no goal for him this afternoon.

Substitutes:

ST: Michail Antonio – 6/10

Antonio offered very little after coming off the bench.

CM: Flynn Downes – 6/10

He added some energy to Moyes’ midfield.

LM: Pablo Fornals – N/A

Fornals came on for the final few minutes of the contest.
