West Ham United faced off against Gent at the Ghelamco Arena earlier today as they focused on securing a win on the road in the UEFA Europa Conference League. The Hammers made a solid start to the game and got their noses ahead via Danny Ings’ effort just before the stroke of the half-time break.

Hugo Cuypers scored the equaliser in the 56th minute as the two teams played out a 1-1 draw away in Belgium.

Let’s take a look at how each West Ham United player fared during the match against Gent.

GK: Alphonso Areola – 6.5/10

Areola made a few crucial saves at the back and did enough to restrict the opposition to just one goal.

CB: Ben Johnson – 6.5/10

He had a few shaky moments at the back but did enough to keep the home side frustrated for most of the game.

CB: Angelo Ogbonna – 5/10

The experienced defender was far from convincing when defending inside his half and picked up a yellow card which rules him out of the second leg.

CB: Nayef Aguerd – 5/10

Aguerd was strong in the air but was at fault in the lead-up to Gent’s equaliser.

RM: Vladimir Coufal – 7/10

He didn’t do much wrong at the back and was a real threat going forward.

CM: Flynn Downes – 6/10

The talented midfielder worked hard but struggled to get a foothold in the game.

CM: Declan Rice – 7/10

Rice kept possession moving quite well at the centre of the park but has little to show for his efforts.

LM: Emerson Palmieri – 6/10

He didn’t do much wrong at the back but offered very little in the opposition half.

RAM: Jarrod Bowen – 7.5/10

Bowen was a real threat on the right wing and came close to winning the game for the Hammers with his late attempt.

LAM: Manuel Lanzini – 5/10

He struggled to get into the rhythm of the game and was substituted after the hour mark.

ST: Danny Ings – 7/10

Ings scored the only goal of the game for West Ham late in the first half. He was quiet after the half-time break.

Substitutes:

ST: Michail Antonio – 7/10

He caused a few problems for the opposition defenders after coming on as a substitute.

LAM: Said Benrahma – 6/10

Benrahma struggled to get into the flow of the game.

CM: Lucas Paqueta – 6/10

Paqueta offered very little after coming off the bench.
