In a recent interview with Give Me Sport, journalist Pete O’Rourke claimed that Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha would love to join Arsenal if Mikel Arteta decides to move in for him this summer. O’Rourke said,
“Any player right now would be excited by the prospect of joining Arsenal. There’s going to be Champions League football next season and they could be potential title winners as well.
“They’re a club really going places under Mikel Arteta as well and it’s a good young squad there. I think they’ll just get better and better.
“So yeah, I’m sure Zaha, if Arsenal did come back and show interest in him, it’s a move he would seriously consider.”
Zaha’s Impressive Campaign In English Football
Zaha has enjoyed a decent season at the London club after he put in a run of influential performances as a key member of Crystal Palace’s attack. The 30-year-old has banged in six goals and grabbed three assists in 25 appearances for the Eagles during this campaign across various competitions.
The Ivory Coast sensation has been a consistent performer in the final third as he is averaging 2.4 shots, 1.0 key passes and 1.9 dribbles per game in Premier League football. He has even been excellent when linking up play with his teammates in the opposition half, based on his pass completion rate of 81.4% in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Get Zaha On Board?
Zaha can use his pace to get in behind the opponent’s backline and has built a reputation for earning penalties as he can make some clever turns inside the penalty box. He can be a good finisher up top when he is playing with confidence on the pitch.
The Ivory Coast wing wizard can also set up a few decent chances for his teammates on the attacking end of the pitch.
Arsenal can definitely use someone with Zaha’s skillset to bolster their attack in the summer as he would add more firepower to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta‘s attack. At 30, the Crystal Palace star might still have a few good years left in him to play at his best, so the Gunners should think about going all out to get him on board when he becomes a free agent in the summer.
