In a recent report, Torcedores mentioned that Newcastle United are facing stiff competition for on-loan Barcelona ace Francisco Trincao. It is understood that the Magpies will have to rival Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal in the race to sign the Portuguese winger who is currently playing on loan at Sporting.
Trincao’s Impressive Loan Spell At Sporting
Trincao is having a decent loan spell in Portugal as he has produced a string of productive displays on the right side of Sporting’s attack. The Portuguese sensation has scored nine goal and secured three assists in 41 matches for his loan employers this season across multiple competitions.
The 23-year-old has caught the eye in the final third based on his average of 1.8 shots, 1.4 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per game in Liga Portugal. He has even taken care of possession when interchanging the ball with his teammates in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 83.8% in the top tier of Portuguese football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at his parent club Barcelona is set to run out in the summer of 2025. Therefore, it won’t be easy for Newcastle United to win the race for Trincao’s services in this off-season.
Is Trincao A Good Option For Newcastle United?
Trincao is a technically gifted footballer who has got the vision to play some decisive passes in the final third. He can strike the ball with power from long range and can be a hard man to dispossess when he is running in full swing deep inside the opponent’s half. Trincao is primarily a right-sided wide player but can also play on the left flank or as a secondary strike down the middle if needed.
We can expect the Portuguese sensation to add more goals and creativity to Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe‘s attack. He is good enough to offer some healthy competition for Miguel Almiron at the Tyneside club in the coming seasons.
All in all, Trincao will be a decent option for the Magpies to consider this summer. He has the skill set to be a success story at St. James’ Park as long as he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League.
