Aston Villa faced off against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium earlier tonight as they hoped to earn a positive result on the road in the Premier League. The Villans made a quick start to the game and got their noses ahead in the 24th-minute courtesy of Ollie Watkins’ effort. However, the home team equalised just 11 minutes later when Harvey Barnes found the back of the net. Both teams went into the half-time break with a 1-1 scoreline.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was sent off in the 70th minute. Aston Villa managed to make their numerical advantage count and scored the winning goal in the 87th minute when Bertrand Traore got his name on the scoresheet. The contest ended with the Villans earning a narrow 2-1 win away from home.

Let’s take a look at how each Aston Villa player fared during the match against the Foxes.

GK: Emiliano Martinez – 7/10

The Argentine keeper made a few decent saves at the back but won’t be pleased after allowing a goal in the first half.

RB: Ashley Young – 7/10

He did his fair share of defending and had an eventful game going forward. Young was replaced in the 84th minute.

CB: Ezri Konsa – 7/10

He didn’t do much wrong at the back and was a strong presence in the air.

CB: Tyrone Mings – 7/10

Mings earned the ball back twice and cleared his lines when needed. He did enough to limit the opposition to just one goal tonight.

CM: John McGinn – 6.5/10

McGinn had a couple of bright moments in the game and was accurate with his passing.

Buendia was a constant menace in the final third and has got an assist to show for his efforts.

ST: Ollie Watkins – 8/10

Watkins caused a lot of chaos in the Leicester half and scored his team’s opening goal in the 24th minute.

ST: Leon Bailey – 6.5/10

He caused a few problems for the opposition but didn’t do enough to register a goal during his time on the pitch.
