Aston Villa welcomed Fulham at Villa Park earlier tonight as they hoped to secure all three points in front of their home supporters. The Villans made a solid start to the game and got their noses ahead in the 21st-minute courtesy of Tyrone Mings’ effort. The West Midlands club went into the half-time break 1-0 up on the scoreline.

Unai Emery’s men defended their narrow advantage well in the second 45 minutes and earned a narrow 1-0 win at home.

Let’s take a look at how each Aston Villa player performed during the clash against the Cottagers.

GK: Emiliano Martinez – 6.5/10

The Argentine keeper didn’t have a save to make in the game and secured an easy clean sheet at Villa Park.

RB: Ashley Young – 6.5/10

He had a few bright moments in the game and was replaced in the 84th minute.

CB: Ezri Konsa – 7/10

Konsa made a lot of crucial clearances on the defensive end of the field.

CB: Tyrone Mings – 7.5/10

He gave a good account of himself when defending inside his half and scored the only goal of the contest in the 21st minute.

He anchored the midfield relatively well but offered very little going forward.

CM: Douglas Luiz – 7.5/10

Luiz offered decent protection for his teammates at the back and was lively in the final third.

He caused a lot of problems for the opposition defenders and has got an assist to show for his efforts.

CAM: Emiliano Buendia – 6.5/10

Buendia had a few bright moments in the game but lacked quality on the ball.

LW: Jacob Ramsey – 7/10

He caused a few headaches for his marker but there was no goal for him tonight.

ST: Ollie Watkins – 7/10

The English forward was a constant menace in the Fulham half but failed to find the back of the net.

Substitutes:

RW: Bertrand Traore – 6/10

Traore didn’t offer much after coming on as a substitute.

The Frenchman struggled to get into the rhythm of the game.
