In a recent report, El Nacional claimed that Liverpool are eyeing a £70m move for Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni. It has been claimed that the Reds are hoping to acquire the services of the France international in the summer.
Tchouameni’s Impressive Form In Spanish Football This Season
Tchouameni has successfully established himself as one of the most important members of Carlo Ancelotti’s starting XI this season. The French sensation has made 35 appearances for the Madrid outfit during this campaign, picking up three assists in the process on all fronts.
The 23-year-old has anchored the midfield with conviction by averaging 1.9 tackles, 1.3 interceptions, 1.4 clearances, 1.1 shots, 0.7 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even been accurate with his ball distribution after making 93.6% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium is set to expire in the summer of 2028. Thus, it would take a mammoth offer for Liverpool to stand a chance of recruiting him later this year.
What Will Tchouameni Bring To Liverpool?
Tchouameni can get stuck in with some solid tackles to make life tough for the opposition at the centre of the park. He can sense the danger quickly to make a few timely interceptions for his side. Tchouameni is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also fill in as a box-to-box midfielder if his manager asks him to do so.
The French midfielder doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive. He is also a good passer of the ball and can set up some inviting chances for his teammates in the final third.
Tchouameni will no doubt bring plenty of bite and steel to Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp‘s midfield and could even help the Reds challenge for some major trophies in the coming seasons.
Hence, the Merseyside club would be wise to try everything in their power to bring Tchouameni to Anfield when the transfer window reopens later this year. However, only time will tell whether he can adapt to the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football.
