Everton will take on Newcastle United as they welcome them to Goodison Park on Thursday night, hoping to grab a win in this Premier League contest. The Toffees went up against Crystal Palace in their last outing, which resulted in a 0-0 stalemate, so they will have to perform better in order to pick up a win against the Magpies.

Sean Dyche will probably opt for the 4-2-31 formation and is expected to keep the changes to a minimum. Ben Godfrey should replace Mason Holgate in the starting XI after the latter received a red card against the Seagulls.

Defence

Jordan Pickford will continue to feature between the sticks for Everton after keeping a clean sheet in his last league outing. James Tarkowski will form the centre-half partnership with Michael Keane at the heart of Everton’s backline as they focus on keeping things tidy at the back throughout the game.

Ben Godfrey will replace Mason Holgate at the right-back position while Vitaliy Mykolenko puts in a tireless display as the left-back. Both of them will have to defend their penalty box well to stop the opposition attackers from creating too many chances inside their halves.

Midfield

Idrissa Gueye and James Garner will anchor the holding midfield positions as they look to dominate possession in the central areas.

Dwight McNeil, Alex Iwobi and Demarai Gray will operate just ahead of them, trying to create as many chances as they can in front of the goal to win this contest.

Tom Davies will have to settle for a place on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the second half if needed.

Attack

Dominic-Calvert Lewin will spearhead Dyche’s attack on his own up top. He will have to find a way to cause a few headaches for the Newcastle defenders in the final third.

Neal Maupay should take a spot on the bench, waiting for his chance to shine in the second half.
