Newcastle United faced off against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium earlier today as they looked to earn a result on the road in the Premier League. The Magpies made a slow start to the game and conceded the opening goal in the 15th minute when Phil Foden got his name on the scoresheet. Eddie Howe’s men failed to come up with a response in the first half and were trailing 1-0 at the half-time break.

Bernardo Silva doubled Man City’s advantage in the 67th minute with a great finish as Newcastle crashed to a 2-0 loss away from home.

Let’s take a look at how each Newcastle United player performed during the match against Man City.

GK: Nick Pope – 5.5/10

He made one good save in the game but conceded a goal each in both halves.

RB: Kieran Trippier – 6.5/10

Trippier did his fair share of defending and had a lively game going forward.

CB: Jamaal Lascelles – 6/10

The English centre-back made some crucial clearances when defending inside his half but his efforts were not enough today.

CB: Sven Botman – 6.5/10

Botman dealt with the danger when needed and made one good run with the ball from the back.

CM: Sean Longstaff – 6/10

He struggled to get a stranglehold in the game and was substituted after the hour mark.

CM: Bruno Guimaraes – 6.5/10

The Brazilian midfield ace offered solid protection for his teammates at the back and made two decent runs with the ball from midfield.

CM: Joelinton – 6.5/10

Joelinton came back to defend when his teammates needed him but wasted a great chance to score after the hour mark.

RW: Miguel Almiron – 6/10

Almiron failed to get into the rhythm of the game and produced an uninspiring performance on the right wing.

ST: Callum Wilson – 6/10

He had a couple of bright moments in the game but gave away the ball cheaply during the game.

LW: Anthony Gordon – 6/10

Gordon had one bright moment in the game but never looked like he would score.

Substitutes:

LW: Allan Saint-Maximin – 6/10

He made two dangerous runs with the ball.

Murphy offered very little after coming off the bench.
