According to a report from Daily Mail, Real Madrid superstar Karim Benzema is set to extend his stay until the summer of 2024. It is understood that Los Blancos have offered him a contract extension, and the French sensation has verbally agreed to the deal, disappointing potential suitors such as Manchester United, who were eyeing a move this summer.
Benzema’s Impressive Campaign With Real Madrid So Far This Season
The Ballon d’Or winner has played a stupendous role in Carlo Ancelotti’s frontline over the last few years and is enjoying a rich run of form at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium this campaign. The 35-year-old has featured in 27 matches for the Madrid giants so far this season, finding the back of the net on eighteen occasions and securing four assists on all fronts.
The French superstar is showing no signs of stopping in his tracks even at this age, as he is averaging 4.7 shots, 2.2 key passes and 0.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has also been excellent with his link-up play in the final third based on his pass completion rate of 87% in league football (stats via whoscored).
The prolific striker, who has been at Los Blancos since 2009, would have been out of contract at the end of this season. However, a contract renewal would now see him stay with the Madrid giants until the summer of 2024.
Good Move From Ancelotti In Offering A Contract Extension?
Karim Benzema is widely regarded as one of the best strikers in the world. He has helped Real Madrid win the UEFA Champions League four times, in the year 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018 being instrumental in the team’s success, scoring crucial goals in many important matches.
Benzema’s playstyle is characterized by his excellent finishing ability, his vision, and his skill on the ball. He is a highly technical player who can create chances for himself and his teammates. He is also a strong and physical player who is able to hold up the ball and bring his teammates into play. Furthermore, he is able to read the game well and make intelligent runs to create space for himself and his teammates.
Even at this age, Benzema is still doing numbers on his markers and will only continue to do so if he keeps up with this rich run of form that we’re seeing currently. Hence, Ancelotti has done well by offering him a contract extension for another year, as Benzema would undoubtedly play a crucial role in the next season as well.
