In a recent report, Fichajes stated that Real Madrid have identified on-loan Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku, who is currently on loan at Inter Milan, as a target. It is understood that Los Blancos are planning to sign the Belgian striker as they see him as a good partner for Karim Benzema up top.

Lukaku’s Loan Spell In Italian Football This Season

Lukaku is experiencing a decent loan spell at San Siro as he has managed to produce some encouraging displays as the focal point of Inter’s attack. The 29-year-old has found the back of the net on five occasions and picked up one assist in 19 appearances for the Italian club this season across all competitions.

The 104-time Belgium international has led the line well at times by averaging 1.3 shots and 0.7 key passes per 90 minutes in Serie A. However, he has to find a way to improve his link-up play on the attacking end of the field, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 69.3% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at his parent club Chelsea is set to expire in the summer of 2026. Thus, it will take a big offer for Los Blancos to land him at the end of this campaign.

Should Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Snap Lukaku Up?

Lukaku can use his strong 1.91m frame to create space for himself and get a few strikes in on-target. He can be a streaky goal-scorer in front of the opposition goal and doesn’t mind creating some decent chances for others around him when he is playing regularly on the pitch.

However, the Belgian talent has been quite injury-prone of late and endured a tough spell at Chelsea last season. Hence, he won’t be a good fit for Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti’s needs at the moment.

Los Blancos would be better off opting for a more proven frontman if they want to continue dominating both domestic and European football in the coming seasons.

At 29, Lukaku is currently playing in his prime but won’t fit Ancelotti’s playing style due to his poor link-up play in the final third.

Real Madrid would be wise not to snap him up in the future. The Madrid giants should rather focus on signing someone more reliable later this year.
