Despite escaping relegation last season under Jesse Marsch, Leeds United are undergoing a similar crisis with 12 league games remaining. The dismissal of Marsch has not changed the scenario even though their new boss Javi Gracia had a winning start to life at Elland Road against Southampton. The Spaniard has not won so far this month and the upcoming contest versus Wolverhampton Wanderers won’t be a stroll in the park either.

Wolves, on the other hand, have scripted a resurgence following the appointment of Julen Lopetegui as the new Molineux chief. They must grab a few more results to retain their top-flight status and the gaffer must aim for all three points on Saturday afternoon in their own backyard.

Defence

The Whites roped in Joel Robles to challenge and cover Illan Meslier between the sticks. However, the veteran Spaniard has only been deployed in two Cup fixtures and the 23-year-old French custodian must retain his ‘number 1’ status. Leeds have been vulnerable in the defensive third, but the promising Frenchman has impressed with his reflexes and shot-stopping ability over the past couple of years.

Versatile Stuart Dallas remains sidelined with his long-standing thigh injury, but the return of skipper Liam Cooper would be a massive boost for the rest of the campaign. He might reclaim his starting status replacing Maximilian Wöber and partner with Robin Koch in the heart of the backline. Right fullback Luke Ayling must balance his display between defence and attack, and so is Junior Firpo who must grab his opportunities down the left-hand flank.

Midfield

The injury absence of Tyler Adams would be a huge setback for the Yorkshire giants. Adam Forshaw is ruled out with a groin strain and is yet to regain his match fitness. Weston McKennie, on loan from Juventus, is likely to form a double pivot alongside Marc Roca.

With just 1 goal and 2 assists in 25 outings, Brenden Aaronson has failed to fulfil his potential as a ‘number 10′. He must make way for Rodrigo Moreno who has been the Whites’ top scorer so far this season. Crysencio Summerville has been an exciting addition who holds a bright career road ahead of him. The Dutchman must showcase his spark and skills as a wide attacking option, also, experienced Jack Harrison needs to step up his game and cause menace from the left-hand flank. Luis Sinisterra and the teenage sensation Wilfried Gnonto should get involved as ‘super subs’.

Attack

Fit-again Patrick Bamford should spearhead the attack as he found the net against Brighton in a 2-2 draw. Club-record signing Georginio Rutter must settle in quickly and make a difference high up the pitch as an understudy to the Englishman.
