Kone’s Decent Run Of Form For Monchengladbach
Kone is enjoying an encouraging campaign at Borussia Park as he has produced a series of solid performances for Monchengladbach at the centre of the park. The 21-year-old has found the back of the net once and earned one assist in 25 appearances for his current employers this season on all fronts.
The French sensation has caught the eye at times with his performances in midfield and deserves credit for averaging 2.6 tackles, 1.0 interceptions, 0.6 clearances, 0.9 shots, 0.7 key passes and 1.9 dribbles per game in Bundesliga. He has even been careful when distributing possession after making 86.9% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Monchengladbach is set to expire in the summer of 2025. Hence, the Red Devils will have to make a convincing offer if they want to lure Kone to Old Trafford at the end of this campaign.
Should Manchester United Erik Ten Hag Snap Kone Up?
Kone can do a little bit of everything at the centre of the park. He is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team in midfield.
The French youngster doesn’t mind clearing the danger when needed and can also make a few driving runs with the ball from midfield. He can strike the ball relatively well from long range but needs to add a few more goals and assists to his game if he wants to fulfill his true potential.
Kone mainly functions as a box-to-box midfielder but can also play as a defensive midfielder or in the number ten position if asked to do so. We can expect the Frenchman to add more bite and steel to Man United boss Erik ten Hag’s midfield department. He could even serve as an ideal successor to Casemiro at Old Trafford in the long run. Thus, the Mancunian giants should focus on snapping Kone up during the summer transfer period.
