Aston Villa will lock horns with Crystal Palace as they welcome them to Villa Park on Saturday hoping to earn a good result at home. The Villans recorded a 2-0 victory against Everton in their last outing, so they would be eager to put on a much-improved showing versus the Seagulls this weekend.
Unai Emery will set his team up in a 4-4-2 formation and could keep changes to a minimum for this game. Hence, we can once again expect to see Ollie Watkins at strike but Leon Bailey could drop to the bench making way for Emi Buendia to play from the start.
4-4-2 Aston Villa Predicted XI Vs Crystal Palace
Defence
Emiliano Martinez will function in goal for the Villans after keeping a clean sheet in his last outing. Tyrone Mings will resume his centre-back partnership with Ezri Konsa at the heart of Villa’s defence as they try to keep the opposition at bay throughout the game.
Matty Cash will operate as the right-back while Lucas Digne hopes to prove his worth on the other side as the left-back. Emery will ask both of them to defend their penalty box well and try to create some decent chances going forward.
Alex Moreno and Ashley Young will offer cover for the defensive positions as they take a spot on the bench.
Midfield
Douglas Luiz will anchor the midfield alongside Boubacar Kamara as they focus on dominating the midfield battle and creating some inviting chances for their teammates up top.
Jacob Ramsey will carry most of the creative burden for the West Midlands club on the left flank. John McGinn will try to give a good account of himself as a right-sided wide player. Both of them need to work hard at both ends of the field if the Villans are to come out on top this weekend.
Leander Dendoncker will be named on the bench as he waits for his opportunity to impress in the second half if needed.
Attack
Ollie Watkins and Emi Buendia will form a two-man strike team on the attacking end of the field. Both of them would be eager to find the back of the net when they lace up to face off against the Crystal Palace defenders this weekend.
Leon Bailey will have to be content with a spot on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the latter stages of the game if the Villans are in need of a goal by then.
