In a recent stream on Twitch (via Marca), Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies opened up about his personal life. The Canada international revealed that he is ‘a popular loser’ as he said,
“It’s a bit worrying not having something to do, especially when all your friends have jobs.
“Life as a professional footballer is great to relax and enjoy. But after training, there’s nothing to do.”
Davies went on to add,
“Since I don’t have a family and my girlfriend doesn’t live with me, I’m alone. I probably have like five friends. I’m a popular loser.”
Davies is having another impressive season at Bayern Munich after putting in a run of impressive performances on the left side of their backline. As of 26 March 2023, the 22-year-old has found the back of the net on three occasions and picked up eight assists in 32 matches for the German club during this campaign across all fronts.
Davies has been a reliable performer for the Bavarian giants at both ends of the field based on his average of 1.8 tackles, 1.0 interceptions, 0.7 clearances, 0.6 shots, 1.8 key passes and 2.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in Bundesliga football. He has also taken care of possession when distributing the ball from the left flank after making 87% of his attempted passes in the top tier of German football (stats via whoscored).
