A 26-year-old sports writer and an aspiring football coach who has road-tripped across the Scottish Highlands, but has never been to Wales. Sucker for cliff-hangers and catchy riffs. Known to be a grunger and not to be a stranger.

In a recent collaboration with BZRP Music Sessions, pop star Shakira dropped a musical bombshell as she seemed to take a dig at her ex-husband and former Barcelona star Gerard Pique. The song has gone on to become viral and is currently one of the most-played songs across all digital platforms in the world.

Shakira’s empowering lyrics in the collaboration have not gone unnoticed with English singer Adele seemingly aware of it.

Shakira recently made an appearance on the Jimmy Fallon Show which caught the eyes of Adele. She didn’t shy away from sharing her thoughts and joked (via Marca),

“I saw your performance last night on Jimmy Fallon…. Oh, your ex-husband is in trouble!”

It seems like Adele has now joined the legions of Shakira fans after Pique’s ex-wife saw a lot of success come her way in what has proven to be a long and decorated career for her in the music industry.

Gerard Pique: Player Profile

Pique is a former professional footballer who joined his local club Barcelona at a young age before coming through their youth ranks in the early 2000s. In 2004, the Barcelona-born centre-back earned a big move to Manchester United where he continued his football education under the expert stewardship of Sir Alex Ferguson.

Despite a season-long loan spell at Real Zaragoza, Pique struggled to impress at Old Trafford and was sold back to Barcelona in the summer of 2008.

The Spanish defensive ace went on to make 616 senior appearances for the Catalan club, scoring 53 goals and picking up 15 assists for them across all fronts.

The 36-year-old was averaging 0.7 tackles, 0.3 interceptions and 2.7 clearances per 90 minutes in La Liga before he announced his retirement earlier this year (stats via whoscored).

Pique won the 2010 FIFA World Cup with Spain and has also tasted success in the UEFA Champions League four times during his time at Man United and Barcelona which remains the high points of his playing career.

Even though Pique has retired from playing football, he remains a prominent presence in the tabloids. Here is hoping he can find some peace amongst all the chaos.
