In a recent report, Calciomercato mentioned that Manchester United are eyeing a £107m move for Napoli star Victor Osimhen. It has been claimed that the Red Devils are hoping to beat Liverpool by launching a £107m bid to land the Nigerian centre-forward in the summer.
Osimhen’s Impressive Numbers In Italian Football This Season
Osimhen is having a brilliant campaign at the Naples club after producing a series of productive performances as the focal point of their attack. The 24-year-old has featured in 22 matches for the Italian club this season, scoring 18 goals and picking up four assists in various competitions.
The Lagos-born talent has led the line well for Napoli based on his average of 3.9 shots, 1.1 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. However, he needs to improve his link-up play in the final third after completing only 72.2% of his attempted passes in the Italian first division (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at the Italian club is set to expire in the summer of 2025. Hence, it would take a mammoth offer for Man United to stand a chance of recruiting him at the end of this campaign.
Is Osimhen A Dream Option For Manchester United?
Osimhen excels at creating space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He is a deadly finisher in front of the opponent’s goal and can also set up a few inviting chances for his teammates in the final third. The Nigerian talent can time his runs well in behind the opposition backline but needs to improve his passing accuracy up top.
At 24, Osimhen will only get better in the coming seasons which makes him a dream option for the Red Devils to pursue in the summer. However, only time will tell whether he can cope with the high intensity of Premier League football if Man United manage to get him on board in the not-too-distant future.
We can expect the Napoli star to add plenty of firepower to Man United boss Erik ten Hag’s attack. He would serve as an upgrade over Wout Weghorst who has struggled to find the back of the net at Old Trafford recently.
With all things considered, the Mancunian outfit should think about engineering a move to bring Osimhen to the Theatre of Dreams during the summer transfer window as he could help them compete for some major trophies over the next few years,
