According to a report from Manchester Evening News, it was stated that Manchester City have secured the signing of Maximo Perrone from Velez Sarsfield. It was also mentioned that the youngster will train with the first-team squad for the remainder of the season, however, he may not feature in games until later.
Who Is Maximo Perrone And What Can He Bring To Manchester City?
Maximo Perrone was born on January 7, 2003, in Buenos Aires, Argentina and came through the ranks of Velez Sarsfield. He has played through the Infantil team and then the Juvenil team going further to make his senior debut against Estudiantes in the Copa Libertadores. His league debut came two months later; Velez Sarsfield finished third from the bottom at the end of their campaign where Perrone managed to find the back of the net on two occasions.

The defensive midfielder gave a good account of himself as he made 11 league starts in the Copa Libertadores in the 2022 season where he averaged 3.29 tackles per 90 minutes and was even accurate in distributing the ball to his teammates after completing 88% of his attempted passes in the Argentinian first division.
The 19-year-old remains a solid tackler of the ball and can make some crucial interceptions to win the ball back for his side. He can efficiently distribute possession to his teammates and can score the odd goal from time to time. The Argentine is primarily a box-to-box midfielder and is capable of covering a lot of ground from the central areas. Hence, it makes him a brilliant addition to the squad and a decent long-term replacement for Rodri in the foreseeable future.
Can Guardiola Manage with A Single Signing For The Remainder Of The Season?
Pep Guardiola might feel content with his options on the bench for the rest of the season, with Nathan Ake being more than assuring in the left-back this term and the recent emergence of right-back Rico Lewis. However, it doesn’t change the fact that there are fitness concerns around all of their centre-backs and with no time left to bring in other reinforcements, it is a major gamble for the Mancunian giants considering they are five points behind league leaders Arsenal.
Such a passive transfer season would make the Summer window even busier as the City fans could see a number of new faces join the squad at the Etihad Stadium while several experienced heads look to make their exit.
