Liverpool entertained Real Madrid at Anfield earlier tonight as they hoped to secure a good result at home in the UEFA Champions League. The Reds made an electric start to the game and got their noses ahead in the fourth-minute courtesy of Darwin Nunez’s excellent finish. Mohamed Salah doubled Liverpool’s advantage just ten minutes later after pouncing on Thibaut Courtois’ mistake. However, Vinicius Junior scored a quick-fire brace soon after as the two teams went into the half-time break with a 2-2 scoreline.

Eder Militao gave Los Blancos the lead in the 47th minute when he found the back of the net with a good header. Karim Benzema scored a rapid brace as well as the Reds crashed to a humiliating 5-2 loss at Merseyside.

Let’s take a look at how each Liverpool player performed during the match against Los Blancos.

The Brazilian keeper made a poor mistake to give Real Madrid a goal. He ended up shipping in five goals in what turned out to be a horror night for him at Anfield.

RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold – 6/10

He earned the ball back twice but looked vulnerable at the back. Alexander-Arnold managed to engineer two good chances in the final third.

CB: Joe Gomez – 4/10

The English centre-back struggled to cope with the pace of the opposition counter-attacks and produced a disappointing display at the back.

CB: Virgil Van Dijk – 5/10

He made a few important clearances at the back but got overrun by the Real Madrid attackers far too easily in the second half..
