In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Barcelona are monitoring Celta Vigo playmaker Gabri Veiga. It has been mentioned that the Catalan giants are keeping tabs on the Spanish talent but could face competition from Real Madrid in pursuit of him.
Veiga’s Impressive Rise At The Estadio Municipal de Balaídos
Veiga is having a bright campaign in Spanish football as he has managed to put in a run of eye-catching displays for Celta Vigo in the final third. The 20-year-old has registered six goals and two assists in 23 appearances for the Spanish club this season across all fronts.
The talented attacker has caught the eye with his performances on the attacking end of the field by averaging 1.6 shots, 0.5 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball in the final third after completing 78.1% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Veiga is under contract at Celta Vigo until the summer of 2026. Thus, Barca will have to make a big offer if they want to land the Spanish youngster this summer.
Barcelona Are Monitoring Veiga: Is He A Prospect For The Future?
Veiga can create space for himself to get some strikes in at goal and has got the vision to unlock the opposition defence with a few decisive passes in the final third. He is a technically gifted footballer who can make some intelligent runs with the ball in the opponent’s half.
Veiga is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also fill in as a box-to-box midfielder which his manager asks him to do so. However, the Spanish starlet is still quite raw and would need time before he can be a consistent performer at the highest level.
At 20, there is no doubt that he has the potential to become a future star in Spanish football. Hence, Barcelona boss Xavi should focus on getting a deal done for Veiga in the summer.
Veiga is already good enough to serve as an important member of Barca’s match-day squad. He could even go on to form a dominant midfield partnership with Gavi and Pedri at the Nou Camp over the next decade.
With all things considered, Veiga is undeniably a prospect to watch out for in the future. Thus, the Catalan club should try everything they can to secure his services at the end of this campaign.
