According to a report from Football.London, West Ham United have reportedly completed the signing of Danny Ings from Aston Villa. It is understood that the Hammers have paid £12 million (potentially rising to £15m after add-ons) upfront to secure his signature, adding to the list of striking options alongside Gianluca Scamacca and Michail Antonio.

Ings’ Impressive Run Of Form For Aston Villa So Far This Season

Ings has had a brilliant campaign with the West Midlands outfit so far as he produced some influential displays in the final third being the focal point of their attack. He has managed to find the back of the net on seven occasions and has created an assist over twenty-one appearances across all fronts.

The English striker has scored some important goals for the Villans this season, however, he has mostly come off the bench, which explains why he is only averaging 1/5 shots, 0.5 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per game in the Premier League. Although he needs to find a way to improve his ball distribution in the opponent’s half based on his pass completion rate of 72.2% in the English first division (stats via whoscored).

What Will He Bring To West Ham United?

Ings has the ability to find space to convert opportunities and land a few shots in at the opponent’s goal. He can prove to be a decent finisher in the final third and he can also set up his teammates in front of the goal. The 30-year-old contributes heavily to the defence and acts as a target man inside the opponent’s penalty box as he can position himself really well down the middle.

His addition to the squad will bring more competition to the match-day squad and will also give David Moyes another option in the attacking department. He can add more firepower to West Ham’s attack but has to work on his ball distribution if he wishes to make a difference for them in the remainder of this season.

However, Ings is definitely a shrewd acquisition for the East London club to bolster their strength and he would do well to provide cover in the front.
