Barcelona will take on Girona as they travel to Monitilivi on Saturday night to resume their impressive run in La Liga. The Catalan club come into the match on the back of a 1-0 victory over Real Sociedad to advance into the Copa Del Rey semi-finals. On the other hand, the hosts also recorded an impressive 2-1 win over Sevilla which will keep them in high spirits going into this fixture.
Xavi will probably opt for the 4-3-3 formation and is expected to make a few changes to the starting XI for this contest. Robert Lewandowski is a guaranteed starter in the number nine position, however, Raphinha could get the nod over Ousmane Dembele to operate on the right flank in the final third.
4-3-3 Barcelona Predicted XI Vs Girona
Defence
Marc-Andre ter Stegen will continue to operate in between the sticks for the Catalan club as he hopes to keep another clean sheet in this weekend’s encounter. Andreas Christensen will form the customary centre-half partnership with Eric Garcia at the heart of Xavi’s defence as they try to keep things solid at the back throughout the game.
Jordi Alba will get the nod over Alejandro Balde as the left-back while Sergi Roberto hopes to catch the eye on the other flank as the right-back. Both of them would be eager to join in on the attack and create some inviting chances from the wide areas.
Jules Kounde will have to settle for a spot on the bench as he offers cover for the defensive positions.
Midfield
Gavi, Frenkie De Jong and Pedri will make up Barca’s midfield as they try to dominate the game at the centre of the park and orchestrate some good openings on the attacking end of the field. Pedri and Gavi will act as Barcelona’s main playmakers inside the opponent’s half.
Sergio Busquets and Franck Kessie will have to be content with a spot on the bench as they wait for their chance to shine in the second half if Xavi decides to call upon their services.
Attack
Ansu Fati is expected to get the nod to operate on the left flank while Raphinha looks to weave his magic from the right.
As mentioned earlier, Robert Lewandowski will act as the focal point of Xavi’s attack. He will continue with his rich run of form to cause a few problems for the opposition centre-backs in this away encounter.
Memphis Depay and Ousmane Dembele will be named on the bench as they might come on to influence the game in the latter half if needed.
