Joelinton Gets 9, Trippier With 8 | Newcastle United Players Rated In Impressive Win Vs Leicester City

Newcastle United entertained Leicester City at St. James’ Park earlier tonight as they looked to earn a positive result at home in the EFL Cup. The Magpies made a dominant start to the game but were held to a scoreless draw at the half-time break.

Dan Burn finally managed to net the opening goal at the hour mark before Joelinton doubled Newcastle’s advantage just 12 minutes later. The contest ended with the Magpies earning an impressive 2-0 win at Tyneside.

Let’s take a look at how each Newcastle United player fared during the match against the Foxes.

GK: Nick Pope – 7/10

The English keeper made just one save during the game and secured a comfortable clean sheet at home.

RB: Kieran Trippier – 8/10

Trippier gave a good account of himself on the defensive end of the field and engineered some decent chances in the final third.

CB: Fabian Schar – 7/10

Schar did his fair share of defending and did enough to secure a clean sheet tonight.

He made a few important clearances at the back and made one key chance in the final third. Botman will be happy with the shutout.

The English talent cleared his lines when needed and was a threat going forward. He scored the opening goal in the 60th minute.

CM: Sean Longstaff – 7.5/10

Longstaff was a positive influence at both ends of the field and was accurate with his passing.

CM: Bruno Guimaraes – 7.5/10

The Brazilian talent caused a lot of headaches for the opposition defenders but didn’t manage to register a goal.

CM: Joe Willock – 6.5/10

He had a few bright moments in the game but failed to find the back of the net.

RW: Miguel Almiron – 8/10

Almiron caused all kinds of problems for the opposition and has got an assist to show for his efforts.

ST: Callum Wilson – 6.5/10

He was a threat at times but didn’t do enough to register a goal. Wilson did well to last 78 minutes before he was replaced.

LW: Joelinton – 9/10

The Brazilian sensation came back to defend when needed and was a constant menace in the final third. He ended the game with a goal and an assist to his name.


ST: Alexander Isak – 6/10

Isak offered very little after coming off the bench.

LW: Allan Saint-Maximin – N/A

Saint-Maximin hardly had any time to influence the game.

RW: Jacob Murphy – N/A

He came on for the final few minutes of the contest.
