Newcastle United entertained Leicester City at St. James’ Park earlier tonight as they looked to earn a positive result at home in the EFL Cup. The Magpies made a dominant start to the game but were held to a scoreless draw at the half-time break.
Dan Burn finally managed to net the opening goal at the hour mark before Joelinton doubled Newcastle’s advantage just 12 minutes later. The contest ended with the Magpies earning an impressive 2-0 win at Tyneside.

Longstaff was a positive influence at both ends of the field and was accurate with his passing.
CM: Bruno Guimaraes – 7.5/10
The Brazilian talent caused a lot of headaches for the opposition defenders but didn’t manage to register a goal.
CM: Joe Willock – 6.5/10
He had a few bright moments in the game but failed to find the back of the net.
RW: Miguel Almiron – 8/10
Almiron caused all kinds of problems for the opposition and has got an assist to show for his efforts.
ST: Callum Wilson – 6.5/10
He was a threat at times but didn’t do enough to register a goal. Wilson did well to last 78 minutes before he was replaced.
LW: Joelinton – 9/10
The Brazilian sensation came back to defend when needed and was a constant menace in the final third. He ended the game with a goal and an assist to his name.
