In a recent interview with Record, Manchester City talent Bernardo Silva has offered an update on his future. Silva said,

“I’m very focused on this season and it doesn’t make sense to talk about leaving because we’re in the middle of the season. I’ve been at Manchester City for almost six years, I have a lot of respect for the club, news keeps coming out and people know that there have been talks between me and the club and, at the end of the season, we’ll talk again to see what’s best for the two sides. I’m focused on winning more titles for City. We want to win the league again, we have a competition that we have never won and that is a great objective, which is the Champions League, so we want to try again.”

Silva’s Impressive Form For Man City This Season

Silva is having a decent campaign at the Etihad Stadium as he has put in a run of impressive displays for Man City in the final third. The 28-year-old has found the back of the net twice and secured five assists in 24 matches for the Mancunian club this season across all fronts.

The Lisboa-born talent has given a good account of himself by averaging 1.6 tackles, 0.9 shots, 1.4 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 89.9% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).

What Should Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola Do With Regards To Silva?

Silva remains a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and has got the vision to create some inviting plays for his teammates in the final third. He can strike the ball with power and accuracy from long range.

The Portugal international can even strike the ball with venom and precision from long range and usually works hard at both ends of the pitch. He mainly operates as a right-sided wide player but can also play as a winger on the left flank or in the number ten position if required.

Silva is good enough to help Pep Guardiola’s side challenge for the Premier League and even the UEFA Champions League trophy this season. However, his contract at the Etihad Stadium is set to run out at the end of this campaign. Thus, the Mancunian giants should think about offering him a new deal so that they can keep hold of him for at least a few more years.
