Aston Villa faced off against Southampton at the St. Mary’s Stadium earlier today as they hoped to secure a victory away from home in the Premier League. The Villans made a bright start to the game but were held to a scoreless draw at the half-time interval.

The West Midlands club finally managed to break the deadlock in the 77th minute when Ollie Watkins found the back of the net. Unai Emery’s men defended their slender advantage well and earned a narrow 1-0 win on the road.

Let’s take a look at how each Aston Villa player performed during the match against the Saints.

The Argentine keeper made a handful of excellent saves at the back and earned a crucial clean sheet away from home.

RB: Ashley Young – 7/10

CB: Ezri Konsa – 7/10

Konsa won his fair share of aerial duels and was accurate with his passing.

CB: Tyrone Mings – 7/10

He didn’t do much wrong at the back and did enough to keep the opposition attackers at bay.
