Aston Villa faced off against Southampton at the St. Mary’s Stadium earlier today as they hoped to secure a victory away from home in the Premier League. The Villans made a bright start to the game but were held to a scoreless draw at the half-time interval.
The West Midlands club finally managed to break the deadlock in the 77th minute when Ollie Watkins found the back of the net. Unai Emery’s men defended their slender advantage well and earned a narrow 1-0 win on the road.

He controlled the game and engineered some promising chances in the final third.
CM: Boubacar Kamara – 7/10
Kamara anchored the midfield well but lacked quality in the opponent’s half.
LM: Emiliano Buendia – 6/10
Buendia made two decent chances in the final third.
ST: Leon Bailey – 6.5/10
He caused a few problems for the Southampton defenders but failed to register a goal.
