In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are keen on landing Sporting CP full-back Pedro Porro. It has been mentioned that Spurs are hoping to acquire the services of the Spanish talent next year.
Porro’s Brilliant Run Of Form At Estádio José Alvalade This Season
Porro is enjoying an excellent campaign in Portuguese football after performing at a high level on the right side of Sporting’s backline. The 23-year-old has found the back of the net once and earned nine assists in 19 matches for the Portuguese club this season across various competitions.
The Spanish talent has been a positive influence at both ends of the field as he is averaging 1.4 tackles, 0.7 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 2.8 shots, 2.2 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in Liga Portugal. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball from the right flank, based on his pass completion rate of 76.6% in the Portuguese first divison (stats via whoscored).
His current contract with the Portuguese club is set to expire in the summer of 2025. Hence, Spurs will have to make a sizable offer if they want to acquire the services of the talented right-back next year.
Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Antonio Conte Move In For Porro?
Porro is a well-rounded defender as he can get stuck in with some solid tackles to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind clearing the danger when required and can also create some inviting opportunities for his teammates to find the back of the net. Porro usually functions as a right-back but doesn’t mind filling in as a right-winger if asked to do so.
The Spanish defender is a good dribbler with the ball as well and can strike the ball well from long range. He is currently playing at the top of his game and would be an excellent addition to Antonio Conte‘s squad if Spurs manage to get him on board this January or next summer.
Porro has what it takes to earn a regular starting spot at the North London club. He would be quite an upgrade over Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty as they have both flattered to deceive with their performances for Tottenham during this campaign.
At 23, Porro still has a lot of room to grow as a footballer. Hence, Conte should concentrate on moving in for him when the transfer window commences at the start of the new year.
