Portugal clashed heads with Morocco at the Al Thumama Stadium earlier today as they hoped to earn a positive result in the quarterfinal stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The Portuguese players made a solid start to the game but conceded the opening goal in the 42nd minute when Youssef En-Nesyri scored with a good header. Fernando Santos’ men went into the half-time break 1-0 down on the scoreline.
Portugal struggled to be decisive in the final third and crashed to a narrow 1-0 loss which knocked them out of the World Cup.

The Portuguese keeper made a couple of good saves but was at fault in the lead-up to Morocco’s goal.

Pepe won his fair share of aerial duels and was accurate with his passing.

He made a couple of crucial interceptions at the back but failed to keep a clean sheet.

He struggled to influence the game and could last only 50 minutes.
CM: Bernardo Silva – 6.5/10
Silva made one decent chance in the final third but was mostly underwhelming today.
CM: Ruben Neves – 6/10
He made a couple of inviting opportunities in the Morocco half.
CM: Otavio – 7/10
Otavio got stuck in with some tackles and engineered some meaningful chances in the final third.
RW: Bruno Fernandes – 7.5/10
He created several good plays for others around him and made two decent runs with the ball.
ST: Goncalo Ramos – 6/10
Ramos struggled to make an impact and was replaced in the 68th minute.
LW: Joao Felix – 6/10
Felix had a few strikes at goal but failed to find the back of the net.
ST: Cristiano Ronaldo – 6/10
Ronaldo had some bright moments in the game but didn’t manage to score.

He was tidy with his passing.
LW: Rafael Leao – 7/10
Leao was a constant menace in the opponent’s half.

He added some energy to Santos’ midfield.
