In a recent report, AS claimed that Arsenal are hoping to land Brighton and Hove Albion star Alexis Mac Allister. It has been stated that the Gunners are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the Argentina international next year.

Mac Allister’s Impressive Form For Both Brighton And Argentina This Season

Mac Allister is having an incredible campaign as he has been responsible for putting in a string of promising displays for both his club and country. He managed to help his nation win the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar recently. Hence, it is no surprise that Arsenal are planning to recruit him.

The Argentine sensation has been a consistent performer at the heart of Brighton’s midfield based on his average of 3.1 tackles, 1.4 interceptions, 1.9 shots and 0.9 key passes per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even been excellent when distributing possession from midfield, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 88.7% in the English top flight (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the American Express Community Stadium is set to run out in the summer of 2025. Thus, it won’t be easy for the Gunners to convince the Seagulls to agree on a deal for Mac Allister.

What Will Mac Allister Add To Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta’s Side?

Mac Allister is a solid tackler of the ball and can make some timely interceptions for his team. He can strike the ball with power and precision from long range and has got the vision to make some decisive passes in the opponent’s half. The Argentina international is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also play as an attacking midfielder or as a holding midfielder if his manager tells him to do so.

At the moment, Mac Allister is playing some of his best football. Therefore, Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta should think about moving in for him this January or at the end of this campaign.

Mac Allister is good enough to add more quality to Arteta’s midfield and will undoubtedly offer some serious competition for Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka at the North London club in the coming seasons.

At 23, the Brighton star has got a bright future ahead of him and could help the Gunners challenge for some top honours over the next few years. Thus, it is only logical for Arsenal to try everything they can to lure him to the Emirates Stadium in 2023.
