In a recent report, Tutto Salernitana claimed that West Ham United are among clubs hoping to land Villarreal forward Boulaye Dia who is currently playing on loan at Salernitana. It has been mentioned that the Hammers are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the Senegalese striker but could face competition from Everton in pursuit of him.
Dia’s Impressive Loan Spell At Salernitana This Season
Dia has experienced a decent campaign while on loan in Italian football as he has put in a series of productive displays while spearheading Salernitana’s attack. The 26-year-old has banged in six goals and grabbed a couple of assists in 14 matches for his loan club this season across all fronts.
The Senegal international has caught the eye by averaging 1.1 shots, 0.9 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per game in Serie A. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball in the final third after completing 77.7% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His loan spell at Salernitana is set to expire at the end of this campaign. However, the player is under contract at his parent club Villarreal until the summer of 2026. Hence, West Ham could find it difficult to land Dia on the cheap next year.
Is Dia A Decent Option For West Ham United Head Coach David Moyes?
Dia excels at creating space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He has begun to prove his worth as a decent finisher in front of the opponent’s goal. The Senegalese talent can even set up some promising chances for his teammates to score and loves to make some well-timed runs in behind the opposition defence.
At the moment, Dia is representing his nation in the 2022 FIFA World Cup and has already scored one goal in two World Cup matches so far.
Therefore, West Ham United boss David Moyes should think about engineering a move to bring him to England at the end of this season as he will add plenty of goals to his attack.
Dia has what it takes to fight for a regular starting spot with Gianluca Scamacca and Michail Antonio at the London Stadium in the coming seasons. Hence, he will be a great option for the Hammers to consider next summer as long as they can get him for a fair price. However, only time will tell whether Dia can maintain his good form in Premier League football.
