Liverpool welcomed Napoli at Anfield earlier tonight as they looked to pick up all three points at home in the UEFA Champions League. The Reds made a solid start to the game but were held to a scoreless draw at the half-time break.
The home team pushed on in search of the opener in the second half and finally found it in the 85th minute courtesy of Mohamed Salah’s goal. Darwin Nunez made it 2-0 to Liverpool in injury time when he scored from point-blank range. The contest ended with the Merseyside club securing an impressive 2-0 win at Anfield.
Let’s take a look at how each Liverpool player fared during the match against Napoli.
GK: Alisson Becker – 7/10
The Brazilian keeper was tidy with his ball distribution and made a couple of decent saves at the back. He would be pleased with the clean sheet tonight.
RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold – 7/10
The English full-back kept a solid defensive shape at the back and played some decent long balls to his teammates in the final third.
CB: Ibrahima Konate – 7/10
Konata didn’t hesitate to put in a challenge and did just about enough to keep Victor Osimhen quiet during the game.
CB: Virgil Van Dijk – 7.5/10
The Dutch defender organised his backline well and was good on the ball. He almost scored with his late header but Darwin Nunez stole it from him by tapping the ball in from point-blank range.
LB: Kostas Tsimikas – 8/10
The Greek full-back ran his socks off and delivered a lot of inviting crosses into the Napoli penalty box.
CM: Fabinho – 7/10
The Brazilian midfield ace protected his backline really well but offered very little in the final third.
CM: Thiago Alcantara – 7.5/10
Thiago kept the ball moving with conviction in the middle of the park and earned possession back a few times for his side.
CM: James Milner – 6.5/10
He was full of energy and battled for a lot of 50-50 balls. However, Milner picked up an injury and got replaced in the 47th minute.
RW: Mohamed Salah – 7.5/10
Salah caused a lot of problems for the Napoli defenders and deservedly got his name on the scoresheet late in the game.
ST: Roberto Firmino – 6/10
He created a couple of decent opportunities for others around him but failed to register a goal.
LW: Curtis Jones – 6.5/10
Jones held the ball up really well in tight spaces but was toothless in front of the Napoli goal.

He added more pace and creativity to Jurgen Klopp’s midfield.

The Uruguay international came on and scored a late goal.
