Newcastle United locked horns with Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium earlier today as they hoped to secure all three points on the road. The Magpies made a decent start to the game and got their noses ahead in the 35th minute courtesy of Miguel Almiron’s decent finish. The Tyneside club went into the half-time break 1-0 up on the scoreline.

Chris Wood doubled Newcastle’s advantage in the 58th minute before Joe Willock put the contest to bed just four minutes later. Romain Perraud scored a late consolation goal for the Saints with a great finish but Bruno Guimaraes put the icing on the cake for the Magpies when he scored in injury time. The contest ended with Newcastle earning an impressive 4-1 win away from home.

Let’s take a look at how each Newcastle United player fared during the clash against the Saints.

The English keeper made a handful of solid saves at the back but won’t be happy after conceding so late in the game.

He gave a good account of himself on the defensive end of the field and picked up an assist as well during the game.

CB: Fabian Schar – 6.5/10

Schar made a lot of crucial clearances at the back but was a bit sloppy with his passing.
