Manchester United welcomed Aston Villa at Old Trafford earlier tonight as they looked to earn a positive result in the third round of the EFL Cup. The Red Devils were dominant in the first half but were held to a scoreless draw at the half-time break.

Ollie Watkins scored for the Villans just three minutes into the second half. However, Man United equaliser courtesy of Anthony Martial’s effort just one minute later. Diogo Dalot scored an unfortunate own goal in the 61st minute.

Still, the Red Devils were far too strong for the West Midlands club and equalised once again just six minutes later when Marcus Rashford found the back of the net. Bruno Fernandes completed the turnaround by scoring a goal in the 78th minute before Scott McTominay put the match to bed with his goal in injury time. Man United ended up cruising to a 4-2 win in the EFL Cup.

Let’s take a look at how each Manchester United player performed during the match against the Villans.

GK: Martin Dubravka – 6/10

Dubravka didn’t have a save to make in the game and will be disappointed after conceding two goals tonight.

RB: Diogo Dalot – 5.5/10

He scored an unfortunate own goal and didn’t offer much in the opposition’s half.

CB: Harry Maguire – 6/10

The English defender cleared the danger when needed and was a threat at the other end of the pitch as well.

CB: Victor Lindelof – 6/10

Lindelof made a couple of solid defensive contributions and was accurate with his passing.

CM: Fred – 6/10

RW: Bruno Fernandes – 8.5/10

Fernandes was a real menace all throughout the game and deserves credit for giving Man United the lead in the 78th minute.

CAM: Donny van de Beek – 6/10

He struggled to get a foothold in the game and did well to last 61 minutes.

LW: Marcus Rashford – 8/10

Rashford was a constant menace in the final third and has got a goal to show for his efforts.
