Manchester City entertained Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium earlier tonight as they looked to secure a good result in the third round of the EFL Cup. Man City made a solid start to the game but were held to a scoreless draw at the half-time break.

Riyad Mahrez finally broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute before Julian Alvarez made the points secure just five minutes later when he got his name on the scoresheet as well. Man City sat on their lead well and cruised to an impressive 2-0 win at home.

Let’s take a look at how each Manchester City player fared during the match against the Blues.

GK: Stefan Ortega – 8/10

Ortega made a handful of solid saves during the game and secured a well-deserved clean sheet at the Etihad.

RB: Rico Lewis – 6.5/10

He was mostly solid at the back and made one good run with the ball.

CB: Ruben Dias – 7/10

Dias cleared the danger when needed and made a couple of solid tackles during the contest.

CB: Aymeric Laporte – 7/10

The Spanish defender earned the ball back twice and was accurate with his passing.
