The FIFA World Cup is set to kick off in Qatar in a few weeks’ time with 32 of the best football countries in the world looking to get the better of each other in their quest to be crowned the new world champions. Croatia will be one of those nations as they look go on a deep run in the tournament and maybe, even make it to the final which will be held at the Lusail Stadium on December 18.

When Did The Croatia National Team First Win The World Cup?

Croatia have not won a World Cup trophy yet as they narrowly missed out on winning the 2018 FIFA World Cup where they were beaten by France by a 4-2 scoreline in the final.

Since gaining independence in 1991, the Croats have appeared in five World Cup tournaments so far (1998, 2002, 2006, 2014 and 2018).

With a World Cup final appearance under their belt, Croatia will now look to go one step further by winning the whole tournament come December.

How Many Times Has Croatia Won The World Cup?

Croatia are still waiting to win it’s first World Cup but deserves a lot of credit for reaching the final in the last edition of the tournament.

They also secured a third-place finish in the 1998 FIFA World Cup after they defeated the Netherlands by a 2-1 scoreline.

Despite being a young nation, Croatia have gained a lot of experience in World Cup football over the past three decades and could be a dark horse in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Croatia will begin their World Cup campaign with a clash against Morocco on November 23 at the Al Bayt Stadium. The European nation will lock horns with Canada just four days later before playing their final group game versus Belgium at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium on December 1.

With experienced players like Luka Modric, Mateo Kovacic and Ivan Perisic in their squad, Croatia will be hopeful about going on a deep run in this upcoming World Cup. And if lady luck shines on them during the tournament, the European country are capable of winning the World Cup for the first time in its history.
