Everton faced off against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium earlier tonight as they looked to earn a good result in the third round of the EFL Cup. The Toffees made a poor start to the game as they conceded the opening goal in the seventh minute when Jamal Lowe scored for the home team. Frank Lampard’s men failed to come up with a response and were trailing 1-0 at the half-time break.
Junior Stanislas made it 2-0 to Bournemouth just two minutes into the second half. However, Demarai Gray pulled a goal back in the 67th minute. The Cherries grew in confidence and scored two quick-fire goals via Emiliano Marcondes’ finish and Jaidon Anthony’s goal. The contest ended with Everton suffering a humiliating 4-1 defeat on the road which knocked them out of the EFL Cup.
