The FIFA World Cup is set to take place in the Middle East for the first time in its history as 32 of the best countries in world football battle it out to see who gets crowned as the new world champions come December.
The United States of America will be one of the nations taking part in Qatar and will try its best to make it through to the knockout phases of the competition. However, their eyes will be firmly fixed on the final which will be held at the Lusail Stadium on December 18.
Let’s see how the USA has fared in World Cup competitions in the past.
When Did USA First Win The World Cup?
The USA is still waiting to win a World Cup trophy with the best result coming back in 1930 when they finished third in the first edition of the famous competition. Since then, the Americans have participated in nine World Cups and would now look forward to having a successful tournament in Qatar. However, it won’t be an easy feat for them to secure qualification into the knockout stages as they will have to compete with the likes of England, Wales, and Iran in their World Cup group.
How Many Times Has USA Won the World Cup?
As mentioned earlier, the USA is yet to taste success in World Cup competitions. However, they have every reason to be proud of their third-place finish in the 1930 World Cup.
Gregg Berhalter will now look to use that historic triumph as motivation for his players as they try to give a good account of themselves when the 2022 FIFA World Cup gets underway in Qatar next month.
Schedule of USA For Qatar 2022
The USA will kick off their World Cup campaign against Wales at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium on November 21 before clashing heads with England at Al Bayt Stadium just four days later.
Gregg Berhalter’s men will play their final group game against Iran on November 29. With some recognizable names such as Christian Pulisic, Weston McKennie, and Sergio Dest in their squad, the Americans will be optimistic about their chances of winning a game or two in this year’s World Cup. However, only time will tell whether they have enough talent in their squad to make it out of their group.
